Following what had been a nearly fifteen year run on the Beggars Banquet label, first in group and then in solo contexts, Peter Murphy went on to pursue future standalone efforts elsewhere, while his former label understandably enough decided to release an overview of said solo work. Wild Birds serves as a handy summary for a newcomer to Murphy, focusing on what retrospectively is a strong group of singles across five albums, from his “Final Solution” cover to standouts like “All Night Long” and “Cuts You Up” as well as a clutch of deeper cuts.
