Big Star

Big Star formed in Memphis in 1971, with Alex Chilton, Chris Bell, Andy Hummel and Jody Stephens in its original lineup. The band combined melodic guitar rock and vocal harmonies on #1 Record and Radio City, followed by the more unsettled Third/Sister Lovers. Its recordings became touchstones for later power pop and independent rock.
