Gustav Estes is so soft and beautiful and I love everything he does. More specifically, his way of playing drums and guitars and building a band depend on a vision of Sixties psychedelia that only borrows the most benevolent parts. Sometimes like the Dead, sometimes like the Flaming Lips, always like himself, Estes creates music that holds you and elevates you and never chooses an easy out, or an unnecessary innovation. He sings in Swedish, so I cannot be sure he isn’t advocating for child labor, though I am fairly sure he is not.
