A Time For Healing

It’s a heavy title but the album earns it. Drummer and composer El-Zabar teams up here with Isaiah Collier on reeds and Corey Wilkes on trumpet, along with keyboardist Justin Dillard. The mood is quiet and respectful, with El’Zabar making extensive use of the kalimba and the band staying percussive, conjurers all. This slots right into the cosmic protest library that kicked into high gear during the Seventies.
