Always Now

Released

Section 25’s first full length album, Always Now, had to manage the trick of an understandably close association with Joy Division in the wake of that band’s tragic end and to carve out their own space regardless of also being on Factory Records, having Martin Hannett production and sounding moodily intense. They succeeded: Larry Cassidy’s vocals were dreamy and distant, his brother Vin Cassidy’s drumming less oppressive, and the whole band’s approach on songs like “Dirty Disco” and “Melt Close” finding a way to explore shadows in their own subtler way.
