Following his one-two commercial peak with Replicas and The Pleasure Principle, Gary Numan started tentatively testing more unusual, unexpected approaches to his note-perfect Kraftwerk-meets-glam-anthem styles on Telekon. Singles like “This Wreckage” didn’t meet with the same response as earlier, but the deeper album cuts like “I Dream of Wires” and “Please Push No More” showed that Numan was already looking ahead towards subtler possibilities for his songwriting gift.
