Americana

Released

Due to the collapse of Rough Trade’s US operation, A.R. Kane, whose members by that point had started to pursue separate efforts to a degree, disappeared a bit from Stateside view, but fan David Byrne stepped in with his Luaka Bop label to provide an initial precis for the curious with the 1992 Americana compilation. Drawing predominantly on their first two full-length efforts, it did have a couple of extra tracks from their earlier singles, notably the majestic ascending guitar-led beauty of “Up,” as well as an otherwise unreleased song, the elegant “Water.”
