Molly Rankin and her bandmates have found a way to mulch a gang of 80s + 90s bands (My Bloody Valentine, Go-Gos, Pastels, Lush, Throwing Muses, Swervedriver, R.E.M.) and come up with a new form that foregrounds melody and song form in a satisfyingly straight-ahead way. Rankin is a careful lyricist and the band moves from hook to hook. It’s just weird there aren’t more bands like this now.
