This is the “quiet” album that was paired with Heavy Rocks, a fairly straight ahead rock album. This is a real breakthrough, a new kind of loud quiet or heavy light? It feels like they made an album sort of by forgetting that they’re Boris. Any connection to heavy music or variants of metal or noise is dissolved in the act of just getting loose and horizontal and atmospheric. Some of it is also, not surprisingly, heavy, but not much. Some of this could be t e l e p a t h or Acid Mothers Temple or Blonde Redhead? Fantastic.
