Body Talk
Released
Body Talk is a victory lap and a compilation, as well as a clear “fuck you” to the idea of women aging in pop. Robyn was a teenpop star who bailed on the system, came back grown, started her own label, and became much bigger than she’d ever been. (Robyn is literally the Britney who escaped being Britney—Google “Max Martin.”) The Robyn Formula™ was cemented here—a blend of emotional honesty, dance momentum, and actual song structures. “Call Your Girlfriend” and “Dancing On My Own” are memes and anthems both, and will not dissolve, no matter what you drop them into. Body Talk also works well as an album, in sequence, even though it doesn’t need to.
