Book of Ways
Released
Book Of Ways may be Keith Jarrett’s most enigmatic recording. This quiet yet sprawling set of 19 solo improvisations for clavichord reveals an ancient heart within, revived as if asleep for centuries and almost crumbling in the light of the here and now. Though not a common instrument to modern ears, at Jarrett’s fingertips, it feels like we might have played it once—perhaps in a dream or a forgotten life. Unfolding in a candlelit room, surrounded by drafts and stonework, the music calls us to listen. Thus, it speaks.
