Dawn Dance cover

Dawn Dance is a hidden gem among ECM’s 1000+ recordings and was the only album to ever feature the name of South African guitarist Steve Eliovson. Supported by Collin Walcott on percussion (primarily tabla), he creates pellucid sonorities with his acoustic. His music describes a soul whose wings have tasted sky above multiple continents. The contrasts between the prancing “Africa” and the whispering “Eternity” only hint at the depths he might have further explored. Sadly, this was not to be, as an accident left him unfit to play until he died of cancer in 2020. But we have this.
