Cattle Decapitation don’t think much of people – previous album titles include Humanure, Monolith of Inhumanity, and Human Jerky. On their ninth album, they take their misanthropy widescreen, plotting out the very extinction of the species through their most ambitious deathgrind opus yet. Travis Ryan switches between guttural grunts and satanic shrieking while his fellow butchers show their chops on catchy gut punches like “The Geocide” and progressive epics of brutality like the title track. “Bring Back the Plague” (besides being a serious neck-snapper) feels pretty prescient in hindsight.
