One of Howard Shore’s most remarkable movie soundtracks, Ed Wood found the composer perfectly matched to a cockeyed but loving vision in Tim Burton’s hands of a tribute to the supposedly worst filmmaker ever. A canard but Johnny Depp captures a bright enthusiasm that Shore matched, his score nodding to classic Hollywood scores, sci-fi soundtracks in particular — can’t miss that theremin in the main theme — and any number of 50s music crazes in particular.
