Fear
Released
With Eno and Manzanera in the room, Cale makes one of the tighter albums of his career. It’s notable that there are all of these big bands around him and in his past, and very much does not sound like any of them. If you said to someone, “You know, like Cale’s Fear,” they wouldn’t know it from something that came after, because nothing did. This album is a bit like an Eno solo album transitioning back to masc, or a Lou Reed album rewritten for a musical theater class. It slaps!
