Ashley Beedle with long-time collaborator Marc Woolford and UK producer Chris Bemand put out this deep, dark and intense collection of future-jazz-broken-beat-leftfield-afro-garage-soul in 1998. It’s a genre-flipping sonic experiment, full of genuine jazz playing and made up of deftly blended and hybridised genres with the overall feel of a lost Detroit techno classic. Quite why it seems to be generally overlooked is a mystery as the quality and range of tunes on this make for a genuinely exciting and fulfilling listen. It’s bold, edgy, complex, futuristic and definitely one of Beedle’s many creative high points.
