Goodbye

Released

Goodbye is the third solo album from Ulrich Schnauss who specialises in synth-heavy, shoegaze / dream-pop-influenced electronica. Some of the tracks here feature the addition of vocals (from Rob McVey from Longview and Judith Beck) to Schnauss’ synthgaze audio palette, and the development of more overt song structures too, although he shrouds the vocals, and indeed the song structures themselves in gauzy, billowing sheets of sound and Enya-sized reverb, smearing each separate element into each other, into a diffuse, electronic wall of sound. Never shying away from dramatic sonic statements, there are plenty of epic highs and introspective lows here but rarely a hint of angst or anxiety in Schnauss’ celestial music, and he generally remains content to float comfortably above such terrestrial concerns, basking in the prettiness of his chords and melodies.
