I’m Thankful cover
Released

From 2006, this happy musical marriage featured UK South coast funksters the Quantic Soul Orchestra and the unique vocals of Philadelphia’s Spanky Wilson. The album was the result of band leader Will Quantic tracking down Wilson after a long career that began in the late 60s and involved her working with Duke Ellington, Marvin Gaye and Willie Bobo. The ten tracks here are a pristine updating of classic early 70s JBs funk with taut horn lines, spindly guitar riffs and funky drums. Unashamedly retro, the QSO provide an ideal and authentic funk backing for Wilson’s rich, soulful vocals.
