Love Hysteria

Peter Murphy

1988
Beggars Banquet

Starting work with what would become a regular backing band for his next few albums, notably featuring a regular songwriting collaborator in B-Movie veteran Paul Statham on keyboards, Peter Murphy fully settled into a more elegantly contemplative musical approach on Love Hysteria. Singles like “All Night Long” and “Blind Sublime” gave his strong singing free rein while retaining a cool edge, while the lengthy ballads “Time Has Got Nothing To Do With It” and “My Last Two Weeks” showcased a vivid musical beauty that he easily matched with his words.
