Argentina isn’t exactly known as a hotbed for power metal, but its most notable export put the country on that map by themselves. Rata Blanca were a few years behind the time – their neoclassical style drew primarily from Richie Blackmore’s Rainbow and Yngwie Malmsteen’s Rising Force, two bands not exactly cutting the edge in 1990. Still, their sheer energy makes their Spanish sword and sorcery tales feel timeless. While their biggest hit,”Mujer Amante,” put an occult spin on the power ballad, “El Beso De La Bruja” truly cast a deadly spell with its intricate guitar interplay.
