OM: A Retrospective cover
Recorded

Swiss free jazz-rock outfit OM is the subject of this vital compilation spanning the latter half of the 70s. The tracks were selected by the band from four albums released on ECM’s JAPO sub-label. Saxophonist Urs Leimgruber and guitarist Christy Doran are the lead voices, while bassist Bobby Burri and drummer Freddy Studer give them ground to run on. Their sound is as difficult to describe as it is easy to listen to, never leaving us in the dust during even their most freakish moments. Amazingly, these avant-garde constructions leave us with more answers than questions.
