Peace & Harmony
Released
You wouldn’t know it by listening to this record, but Harry Mosco was actually one of the members and co.founders of legendary Nigerian Afro-funk band The Funkees. On his 1979 solo album “Peace & Harmony,” distorted guitars, heavy drums, and improvised organ riffs are replaced by four-to-the-flour rhythms, sleek vocals, and cosmic synth stabs. A surprise comes in the form of “Peaceful Dub,” a killer dub version of the disco-reggae title track. This is the kind of record you can whip on at a party safe in the knowledge that every track is a floorfiller (except maybe “She’s Gone,” but what’s wrong with a cheesy slow dance anyway).
