This 1989 collaboration between Skinny Puppy and Ministry’s Al Jourgensen was controversial at the time, even within the band; some members felt it was an attempt by Jourgensen to break the group up, and it almost worked. But musically, it’s one of their strongest releases, chaotic and disorienting but also weirdly catchy, and theatrical in a giddy rather than try-hard way. The addition of guitars on a few tracks gives it extra crunch and whomp, but the electro-funk that’s the core of their sound is still there, and the songs have stronger melodies and more compelling synth tones than their previous work.
