What on first blush might have seemed like a simple cash-in of a remix album when such efforts, while not unique, were still comparatively rare, The Two Ring Circus turned out to be a stellar example of the form. Six remixes started the collection, including two great efforts by Little Louie Vega, “Hideaway” in particular, followed by three lovely orchestral rerecordings, a standout being “If I Could.” Seven live tracks from Germany wrapped it up, bubbling with energy and, on “Oh L’Amour,” Bell’s amusing breakdown of Vince Clarke’s synth elements.
