Uva
Released
The multivalent title of Seth Nehil’s Uva suggests life and fertility, and that feeling is sustained throughout the piece’s 20-minute duration. Drawing on various sources, including ceramic rods, metal chains, and field recordings of wind in the Columbia River Gorge, it unravels a temperate outing. By the end, a cellular creature has taken form, holding in its craw the essence of everything it has digested in an attempt to absorb every last molecule for nourishment. With an organic ebb and flow, Nehil navigates these changes without artifice, allowing every rattling bone to speak.
