Released

The Soda Gong label seems to have hit a rich seam of alien electronics over the past little while; a path with a name is one of its most surprising releases yet. Kantonen’s ear leans toward detail left to hover in time and space; slurred, mangled voices slip and slide across crackling electro-acoustics; tones squeak and glimmer before insect populations march into your eardrum and quietly nibble at your cochlea. The micro interventions nudge you to continue to cock your head to the album’s curious structures, which can sometimes feel off-balance, but always in a compelling manner. It can be intensely disorienting, at moments, but Kantonen always gifts the listener something sensuous or strangely ravishing to help take you through this curious terrain.
