From Saskatoon, Saskatchewan — aka the Canada of Canada — Shooting Guns channel the wide open spaces and remoteness of their home province into their own take on instrumental hard rock. Their tongue-in-cheek humor (demonstrated by song titles like “Motherfuckers Never Learn” and “Predator II”) makes it clear why they were later tapped to score a film about a werewolf cop called WolfCop, This sophomore full-length builds an oppressive atmosphere through burly bursts of space rock and doom-inspired heaviness. It’s the kind of stuff a wizard would blast in the woods while doing bong hits out of a crystal ball.
