One man in Rio, Gabriel Guerra, creates a jazz quartet by himself, with nothing but a DAW and MIDI. The Etruscan proverb tells us that the man “with one finger missing is so much stranger than the man with a hundred fingers,” and that is clear on Cidade Grande. Skate rink organ and electric piano chords all fall a few notes east of normal, and the rhythm section seems to have been wrapped in wax paper. What world is this from?
