Mick Harris’s magnum opus in the realm of dark ambient sound sculpture (the term “music” somehow seems like a stretch and insufficient at the same time) is a single 62-minute track that consists of steady atmospheric drones like artificially pressurized air moving through an abandoned space station, accented by softly rising and falling feedback waves and small, almost imperceptible scraping/grinding sounds like a machine doing something somewhere down that unlit hallway to the right…no, you go check it out; I’ll wait here. Like a late Morton Feldman composition, it does change over its extended running time, but the changes are so gradual and subtle that it’s impossible to remember what you were hearing ten minutes ago and contrast it with what you’re hearing now. It’s not an album; it’s an experience.
