Hutson

Former Impressions lead singer, songwriter, producer and instrumentalist’s third album on Curtis Mayfield’s Curtom label from 1975 is an outstanding collection. A rich, full, orchestrated production with layers of percussion and a dance floor sensibility preventing the soaring strings from being over-sweet. Featuring a clutch of stone cold soul classics including the effortless ‘All Because Of You’, the sublime dance floor soul of ‘Lucky Fellow’, the relaxed, intimate soul jam ‘It’s Different’ and the straight-up lounge-jazz of ‘Cool Out’. ‘Hutson’ is warm, inviting, high-end 70s soul.
