Pianist Steve Kuhn in concert with singer Sheila Jordan, bassist Harvie Swartz, and drummer Bob Moses, recorded at Fat Tuesday’s (NYC) in 1981. There’s nothing not to love about Jordan, whose presence takes an already-enlivening band to new heights. Her diaristic approach in “The Drinking Song” feels just as authentic as her singular rendition of standby “I Remember You” and the virtuosic scat-fest that is “Confirmation,” all of which funnels into Steve Swallow’s crowd-pleasing “The City Of Dallas.” The excitement of the room is palpable, as is the energy of every moment.
