Radical Romantics

Released

Right from the start, with Karin Dreijer’s voice capturing both strength and a sense of vulnerable intensity in “What They Call Us,” Radical Romantics finds Fever Ray in a state of clear statement-making musical command. The sense of careful but never controlled creative flow always evident in Dreijer’s work continues here – arrangements on songs like “Kandy,” “Carbon Dioxide” and “Shiver” aren’t cold recreations of a perceived art/synth-pop heaven but nervously vibrant electronic live wires, with hooks that can be subtly suggestive as much as blunt bursts.
