Scattered Memories
Released
Saba Alizadeh is an Iranian composer, musician, photographer, and Kamancheh virtuoso. All of these different sides of him feed into Scattered Memories, a rich but subtle tapestry of electronic textures, whispers, Persian instruments, field recordings and natural sounds. Drawing from his work in visual art, Alizadeh says about his approach that he finds “sounds and [messes] with them and creates a new spectrum of colours to work with, as either harmonies or melodies.” The result is a beautiful, contemplative exploration of memories and dreams, where each sound is given space to develop and breathe. Silence is used to great effect throughout, and especially on the title track, where the absence of sound is as powerful as the music itself.
