Social Lubrication

Released

It might be an accident of history for Dream Wife to release an album during an angry and defiant Pride month in 2023 that begins with a sharp and sassy stomper called “Kick In The Teeth,” but it absolutely suited the moment. The London trio’s third album finds their distillation of sounds across the punk-and-beyond board continuing, plus moodier energy evident on “Honestly” and “Mascara.” There’s joy in the defiance via Rakel Mjöll’s vocals, with the burns of “Leech” and “Hot (Don’t Date A Musician)” riding tense melodies and shoutalong choruses.
