Waiting for the Sirens’ Call

Released

The fractious existence of New Order reached a turning point with 2005’s Waiting For The Sirens’ Call, simultaneously the only album they’ve yet released without Gillian Gilbert, the introduction of Phil Cunningham to the lineup and retrospectively the last album to date featuring Peter Hook. For all the upheaval, Waiting was one of their strongest releases in their long run; the group’s knack for a striking lead single continued with “Krafty”’s rush of joyous energy, while the title track was a Stephen Morris highlight, a brilliant motorik tribute.
