You And Me Both

Released

The second and final Yazoo album, for all that it might be seen retrospectively as the ending of too short a partnership, in many ways was the best summation of what Vince Clarke and Alison Moyet could do together before taking their own separate artistic paths. More considered than Upstairs at Eric’s, it had some of their most emotionally vivid songs, particularly the ones written by Moyet — the opening “Nobody’s Diary” is a sharply cutting portrait about a failing relationship, “And On” a heartfelt contemplation of death — all strongly sung by Moyet and arranged by Clarke.
