Hasretim – Journey To Anatolia

Marc Sinan is a classical guitarist whose musical output is as diverse as his background. Born to a Turkish-Armenian mother and a German father, conceived Hasretim in response to what he saw as an appalling lack of folk music preservation in Turkey. Combining field recordings of Turkish troubadours and an ensemble of traditional musicians, he meshes the oud, kaval, kemençe, bağlama, duduk, zurna, and frame drum in one of the most astonishing portraits of Asia Minor ever conceived on record—and on video, as the accompanying DVD features archival footage of musicians who might otherwise be forgotten.
