Majesty Crush join the list of early American responses to shoegaze that could have been more famous if things were different or breaks were luckier, but their major label debut was thwarted when the label itself collapsed, and the band couldn’t make it much longer after that. I Love You In Other Cities gives them their due via a posthumous compilation, with the striking vocal charisma in particular of David Stroughter, who suffered one of the more tragic fates in rock history, to the fore on such astonishing songs as “No. 1 Fan.”
