That Zwan lasted only an album and some tours isn’t in retrospect surprising at all, given Billy Corgan’s reputation in, well, just about everything. But his attempt at creating a new band out of the Smashing Pumpkins’ first collapse leaves a reasonable legacy, thanks to the excellence of bandmates like David Pajo and Matt Sweeney. Even if there’s plenty of the typical Corgan angst brooding away in the corners, there’s almost — just — a lightness of touch on songs like “Honestly.”
