Rinse FM 100.3 (February 2002)

One of the key conduits for garage’s turn to grime was Rinse FM, the East London station that had started in ’94 as a jungle pirate but found itself upon a late-90s swerve into garage, then helped midwife the new style during late-night sessions from the likes of Wiley, Maxwell D and Dizzee Rascal. But not all garage turned to grime in the early 2000s. Agent X in February 2002 offers a garage session so casually kinetic it could be from tomorrow, with the DJ offering the briefest of chat, much of it advertising his forthcoming Valentine’s Day show, called Sex, giving tickets to folks who ring in with five sexual positions.
