Teddy Pendergrass

Released

The debut from soul vocalist Teddy Pendergrass after he left Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes was released in 1977 and quickly established him as a substantial solo artist. The uptempo material here is pure poly-rhythmic fire with the grooves on ‘You Can’t Hide From Yourself,’ ‘I Don’t Love You Anymore’ and ‘The More I Get…’ just perfectly assembled. Elsewhere on the ballads, Pendergrass demonstrates that unmistakable vocal tone and unique style that would soon propel him to soul superstardom.
